Camp Aguinaldo came away with a win and a third place finish to move up to second overall even as Alabang firmed up its title drive with two runner-up finishes in the seventh leg of the 2016 WGAP Circuit at the Canlubang Golf and Country Club’s North course in Laguna recently.

Canlubang actually led the winners in the penultimate leg of the circuit organized and conducted by the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines, assembling a 143 to edge Alabang (141) by two to capture the Class A crown.

Villamor placed third with a 137 followed by Forest Hills (131), Sta. Elena (129), Tagaytay (126), Orchard (121) and Aguinaldo (115) with Villamor’s Sheila Ward clinching the individual title with 40 Stableford points.

Flordeliza Silao and Recy Barrientos scored 37 points each while Ikuko Kito and Colo Ventosa chipped in 36 and 33 points, respectively, for the hosts in the premier class of the three-division circuit sponsored by Champion Infinity and Metro Pacific.

Aguinaldo pulled through in a fierce Class B duel, scoring a 134 on Mi Kyong Romualdez and Katherine Uy’s identical 36 points, Leni Cabili’s 32 points and Mencie Millonado’s 30 points, nipping Villamor (133) by just one. Cangolf wound up third just two points behind at 132 with Debbie Schenk taking the individual honors with 37 points.

Alabang ended up fourth with a 129 followed by Tagaytay (121), Forest Hills (119), Sta. Elena (119) and Eagle Ridge (100).

Forest Hills, meanwhile, bagged the Class C crown with a 155 as Anli Wu fired 42 points, Eleanor Leung shot 39 points, Evelyn Alcantara added 38 points and Eun Suk Park scored 36 points for a four-point romp over Alabang, which pooled a 151 led by Minerva Castillo, whose 44-point effort netted her the individual plum.

Aguinaldo, which also earned the Best in Uniform honors, scored a 139 to finish third while Canlubang pooled a 138 for fourth followed by Villamor (138), Sta. Elena (135) and Tagaytay (135).

Alabang’s four-point haul gave it a 26-point total, five points clear of new pursuer Aguinaldo, which also racked up four points for a 21-point output, heading to the last leg at Forest Hills on Oct. 17.

Villamor also improved to third with 19 points as erstwhile second-running Tagaytay Highlands failed to turn in a podium finish and dropped to fourth with 18 points. Forest Hills also kept its spot at No. 5 with 15 points and stayed in the hunt for a berth in the WGAP Cup which it won last year. The WGAP Cup features the top five teams after the eight-leg circuit.
